Is it still traveling when you just stay in one city for three days? I’m getting used to not having a couch to flop on, and it’s probably a good thing. I’m always looking for new stuff do do with new people, and so far the results have been spectacular. Here are my favorite Seattle pictures so far:

This is by the waterfront park off of Alaska Way, where an affable and photogenic seagull let me get really close to him. Thanks to the weather, too, for cooperating for one freaking second.

There was tiny little coffee shop that Yelp recommended, and it’s attached to the Seattle Tower, a 27-story art-deco skyscraper built in 1929. You can really tell that Metropolis came out two years earlier.

Why is Seattle so good at coffee and coffee shops? I’m going to think about that for a while.

This is Kai, Scott and Hayley’s yellow lab. They’re displaced Minnesotans who took me into their home for a night spent discussing Sudanese track-and-fielders, the military-industrial complex, and anxiety disorders in dogs. All this conversation took place over tons of homemade sushi, Fat Tire, and sake.

If memory serves, there was salmon, tuna, mango, avocado, carrot, cucumber, onion, crutons, and a Sriracha-mayo mix. Yum.

I’ve implemented a weekend meal schedule of brunch and dinner, and this guy is tiding me over from one awesome feast to another. Curry and more Fat Tire tonight. Do I have to get a job again, reality?
P.S.: Just found out that the University of Washington has a respectable philosophy Ph.D program. Oooh.

THIS is how I start out my day.

It was a really difficult decision to not go spend 2 hours and $24 at the Hearst Castle. Some other day.

The view from the Pacific Coast Highway.

So damn vast.

I have a thing about skyscrapers (and some opinions on CTBUH’s method), so the seeing the Transamerica Pyramid lit up was pretty B.A.
This is the most hair I’ve had in months. It feels good. I missed my Gandalfian eyebrows more than I thought I would.
Tip: people give you room on the street if your hair’s short and your hood’s up.
Between traveling to a friend’s wedding, getting a dog (see above), and starting a (real) job, I’ve had about -3 minutes over the past two weeks to Tumble, which is a damn shame. But it’s the weekend now, and I’m getting back on the horse.
Prepare yourself.
