Almost Censored (heavy snow potential by Tuesday night)
The models agree on the timing of the next storms (late Tuesday through midday Wednesday), but not the amounts. The range: 4-14”, give or take a foot. Throw out the highest and lowest values and you still wind up with a midrange prediction in the 4”+ range. We’ll see. It’s still (very) early to be attaching inch-amounts to the forecast. Could it be “plowable”? Absolutely.

A Cinematic Decision
Win Win at the Uptown Theater or Biutiful at the Parkway?

- 93% Top Critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
- The director helped write Up.
- It’s in English.

- Javier Bardem is cool.
- It’s foreign. Probably sexy. Date movie.
- Award-winning director who I hadn’t heard of before.
- You can buy beers and margaritas at the concession stand.
The Kazoo Song by Bella Ruse. She missed the note on her last dink on the xylophone last night. But that just made it all even cuter, which was pretty hard to handle.

I Love Minneapolis so Much It Hurts
My first impressions:
- It’s not as cold as I was prepared for. High of 39 today. That’s like fridge weather. Totally manageable.
- I forgot how vast the snowbanks are. Most streets lose a lane of traffic on each side because of the snowbanks.
- It’s adorable that everyone adopts a “goshdarn who cares?” attitude in parking lots when the lines are covered by snow.
- THE CURRENT. Last night, I was driving back to my friend’s place from Rainbow Foods with some frozen pizzas, frozen cookies, free-range eggs, and fancy-pants ramen noodles — I was feeling pretty good about myself. Then I turned on the 89.3, and Dessa was on.
Then the Strokes were on.
Then Radiohead was on.
Then, out of nowhere, this folksy local bastard, Jeremy Messersmith, comes on, and starts messing with my position on the Kinsey scale.
That’s the music I want to sing. That’s how I want to sound. Fuuuuuuuuu.
It’s so good to be back.
LA’s Unemployment Rate is Twice as High as Minneapolis’s
Update: Got excited and wrote a title that was wrong. Los Angeles County, with a population of 9.86 million and an unemployment rate of 12.7%, has 1,252,000 unemployed people. Hennepin County, with a population of 1.14 million and an unemployment rate of 6.1%, has 68,460 unemployed people. So LA actually has 18 times as many unemployed people as Minneapolis. Which is fun to picture, but the rate is what really matters.
